Tom Fletcher is the latest celebrity to leave the Strictly Come Dancing competition, with the McFly star given the boot during week number nine.
This weekend saw Tom perform with pro partner Amy Dowden during Musicals Week, which was the theme Tom was looking forward to the most.
Tom came from a musical theatre background and attended theatre school from age nine, so was appreciative to get as far as this in the contest.
During last night’s live show, he danced to a performance by his sister, Carrie Hope Fletcher, who is a West End actress.
To the BBC’s dismay, these results were leaked hours before the show by an inside source, stating that Tom was eliminated after a dance-off with Rhys Stephenson.
While Tom may have given it his all, it wasn’t enough to impress Cynthia Erivo, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke who voted to save Rhys, with Shirley Ballas voting Tom.
Cynthia, who was stepping in for Craig Revel Horwood said: “This was really tough, I think both couples did such a beautiful job, but there was just an edge in this couple’s dance.
“I really enjoyed it, thank you both for doing what you did, but Rhys and Nancy I choose you.”
While Motsi Mabuse added that it was the “toughest” dance-off she has ever seen.
Addressing his departure, Tom said: “I’ve made the best friend in Amy, you’ve been amazing – thank you so much for teaching me how to dance, I know it was a struggle at times.
“It’s an amazing show, everyone that works on it, all of you guys have been amazing, I’ve loved getting to know you.
“Thank you so much, it’s been the best experience and I don’t regret a single minute of it”
With Tom departing, this now leaves Dan Walker, AJ Odudu, Rhys Stephenson, John Waite and Tilly Ramsay still in the competition.
With Craig Revel Horwood still off sick after testing positive for Covid-19, stand-in judge actress Cynthia took his death during Saturday’s show.
She went down marvellously with fans with some calling for her to replace head judge Shirley.
Taking to Twitter during the episode, one fan said: “Can we get rid of Shirley & have Cynthia forever?”
Another wrote: “Cynthia has been the fairest judge so far! I like the feedback and scoring!”
While a third typed: “Cynthia telling Tom she didn’t buy the emotion, let her stay forever.”
