Strictly final chaos as Covid outbreak and panful injury cause havoc for BBC bosses

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 final could be in jeopardy as a covid outbreak and injuries mean the show will most likely not run as smoothly as hoped.

The highly anticipated series will see one of the three remaining celebrity contestants along with their dance partner lift the Glitterball Trophy in glory as they are crowned Strictly champion 2021.

TV host AJ Odudu and her dance partner Kai Widdrington, Bake Off star John Whaite and his dance partner Johannes Radebe, and EastEnders’ Rose Ayling-Ellis and partner Giovanni Pernice we all battle it out for number one position.

However, it seems a number of problems could possibly derail plans.

Daily Star has taken a look at aspects of the show that have resulted in calamity.

Covid concerns

Just like every other year, stars from the series who were previously voted off the show reunite in order to take part in a group dance.

However, due to the rising coronavirus cases that are sadly sweeping the nation, some stars may not be able to participate, which has left show bosses rather concerned.

On Wednesday, former Strictly contestant Tilly Ramsay confirmed that she had tested positive with Covid and will not be hitting the dance floor on Saturday as a result.

Taking to Instagram she penned: “So sad to be missing the Strictly final – but sadly have tested positive for covid so will be watching from my sofa and cheering on the amazing finalists from home on Saturday night – wishing everyone lots of love & good luck.”

Painful injuries

AJ has injured her ankle

Finalist AJ has unfortunately injured her ankle which will certainly impact her on Saturday night.

On Wednesday, the star took to her Instagram to share the disappointing news alongside a photo of herself sitting down with crutches in her hands.

She penned: “I’ve got a repeated traumatic impact injury to my right ankle affecting the joint, capsule and ligaments themselves. I can’t pinpoint a moment it actually happened during training but the pain came on suddenly on Monday night.”

She is also went on to explain that although the pain was acute she is deeply saddened by the injury.

She continued: “The pain was so acute that I projectile vomited and currently I can’t put any weight on my right foot without agonising discomfort.

“Because I’m unable to move without crutches, we haven’t been nor will be able to rehearse properly ahead of the live final. To say I’m devastated would be a huge understatement and I am gutted.

THAT BEING SAID, whilst it’s not the week I had planned I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. I’m surrounded by a fantastic medical team who are trying their best to get me back on my feet PLUS, I have the most incredible partner @kaiwidd who is carrying me emotionally and physically (literally).

“Thanks for all your messages. I sincerely hope it will be all right on the night,” she said.

Celeb no show

Strictly star Robert Webb pulled out of the competition prematurely in October due to health concerns.

The comedy actor had previously undergone heart surgery and was unsure if he would be able to commit to the series.

However for those who hoped to see him return to the dance floor on Saturday will be sadly disappointed as he declind the offer to come back.

Taking to his Instagram account on Wednesday, the comedian said: “The producers understood that when I had to stop, I had to stop completely… the offer of one more dance was politely declined.”

Return chaos

Backstage staff reportedly had issues with Nina

Recent reports suggested that previous contestant Nina Wadia left some members of the BBC strictly crew “dreading” her return due to back stage quarrels.

The former EastEnders star who was booted off the programme in week one, described her experience on the show as “odd”.

A close source from the programme allegedly said Nina’s comment “left a very sour taste in the mouth.”

Meanwhile, another source apparently claimed Nina had “moaned all the time” during her time on the show, adding: “She is coming back for the final, which we are slightly dreading.”

However since the claims were made, Nadia’s co-stars have jumped to her defence.

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker said: “This is unkind and unfair. @nina.wadia was so good and obviously gutted to go out early but she was brilliant fun and great with everyone.

“I can imagine this is really upsetting and hurtful. I will be one of many who can’t wait to see her next week.”
