Adam Peaty hopes his time as an Olympic athlete will give him the edge over his rivals on Strictly.
The swimming champion, 26, also admits that his sporting career has made him “extremely competitive”.
He said: “I’d like to think I’ve got one up on a lot of the other contestants in terms of my sports performance head.
“But then again this is a very different kind of sport, so really I’ll be starting from nothing.
“I enjoy the hard work so I don’t think that’s going to be the challenge. I am extremely, extremely competitive.”
Adam is one of the favourites to win this year despite being one of the few contestants without any professional training.
The hunk, who won gold for Team GB in Tokyo, is ready to give it his all.
He said: “I think it’s important to continue to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
“So I signed up with no dancing experience.
“I honestly don’t know what’s about to hit me. I’ve been kind of laissez-faire about the whole thing and kept it very simple in my head that I’ll just turn up to training and do a couple of dances.”
When his place in Strictly was announced in early August, he said: “I’m really looking forward to doing something totally different and challenging myself away from the pool. I’m hoping my competitive nature is going to compensate for my dancing abilities!”
Adam recently admitted to the PA News agency: “I don’t know any dance moves yet and it’s two weeks away. So it’s going to be fun but we’ll see.”
He is a breaststroke swimmer, having won gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics and winning two gold medals at Tokyo 2020. To date, Peaty has won three gold Olympic medals and two silver medals.
Other celebrities hitting the Strictly dance floor this year include Dragon’s Den’s Sara Davies; Bake Off winner John Whaite; McFly’s Tom Fletcher and BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker.
