Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly was left red-faced as she made a huge presenting blunder live on air.
The TV beauty, who decked out in a stunning floor-length gown slashed to the upper thigh, was speaking to the judges after BBC Breakfast star Dan Walker’s routine on Saturday night with professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.
After asking judges Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse for their opinions on the routine – in which Dan messed up his footwork – Tess turned to Dan and Nadiya to bid them farewell.
But in her error, Tess had completely forgotten to ask Shirley Ballas for her own opinion.
She told them: “Pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off and go over to Claudia for the scores.”
Clearly confused, Dan replied: “Oh?”
And, quickly realising her mistake, Tess exclaimed: “Oh, excuse me! Shirley!”
Dan then interjected: “Hold on, head judge!”
“How could I possibly forget Shirley?” Tess wondered aloud.
Thankfully, Shirley had some sage words of positivity for Dan after the other judges blasted his footwork, telling him: “Well, first of all I wasn’t disappointed with you at all Dan, so I want to say that first of all. People make mistakes all the time!”
Thankfully her words seemed to relax Tess, too, and eventually she said again: “Off you go, Dan and Nadiya?”
Dan verified: “Can we go now?”, and Tess confirmed: “Yeah, you can go now!”
Fans of the show on Twitter were slightly less forgiving, however, as one cackled: “NOT TESS FORGETTING SHIRLEY!”
Someone else joked: “That’s it! Tess is getting fired for forgetting Shirley!” as another viewer echoed: “Excited to see Tess trying to make it up to Shirley for the rest of the ep tbh!”
“Howling at Tess forgetting Shirley!” another giggled.
Tess left Strictly Come Dancing fans absolutely floored on Saturday evening as she sizzled in a floor-length lilac gown slashed to the upper thigh, giving viewers a glimpse of her toned legs.
The strappy number featured silk cross-straps at the collarbone, leaving plenty of Tess’ shoulders on display as she took the room by storm.
Tess wore her sleek blonde tresses down, with her hair falling gracefully to brush her exposed shoulders.
Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday from 6:45pm on BBC One.
