Strictly's Tilly Ramsay 'receives apology' from Steven Allen over 'chubby' comments

Strictly’s Tilly Ramsay has reportedly received a phone call from LBC’s Steve Allen as he apologises for his body-shaming remarks about her.

The radio presenter called Tilly a “chubby little thing” live on air last week but has now privately apologised to the Strictly Come Dancing star.

The BBC reported that Newsbeat was told that Steve got in touch with her last week to say “sorry”.

Last week, Steve read out a comment from a listener telling him Tilly – the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay – was taking part in Celebrity MasterChef Australia as well as BBC’s Strictly.

He responded: “Is she? Well, she can’t blimming well dance, I’m bored with her already.

“She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking, I should imagine.”

After his rude remarks were aired, the CBBC presenter, 19, posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram account, calling his comments a “step too far”.

Tilly stuck up for herself and said that people should be free to voice their opinions, but “I draw the line at commenting on my appearance” in reaction to the body-shaming insult.

She also explained how she “won’t tolerate people that think it’s okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone’s weight and appearance”.

This comes after Gordon broke his silence after the vile treatment his daughter was subjected to by Steve.

Gordon, 54, sent a sweet message to Tilly, 19, as he wished his daughter and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin “the very best” ahead of their performance on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday.

Sharing a photo of Tilly and Nikita, Gordon wrote: “Wishing these two all the very best for tonight’s dance, another extraordinary week of training, focused hard-working and very professional @tillyramsay @nikita__kuzmin @bbcstrictly.”

In response to his kind caption, fans shared their praise for the youngster after she endured body shaming by the rude radio host earlier in the week.

One fan typed: “Hope Tilly is OK, she is an inspiration to so many youngsters.”

A second remarked: “You raised a whole Queen.”

While a third commented: “She’s doing fantastic and looks incredible. I need some tips!”
