Susanna Reid red-faced as she's forced to apologise for awkward GMB MP name blunder

Susanna Reid was left red-faced on Wednesday morning as she returned to television screens to present the latest edition of Good Morning Britain.

The 50-year-old TV star appeared on the ITV breakfast show alongside Ben Shephard, and the pair woke up the nation with breaking news headlines from across the globe.

At the top of the show, Susanna and Ben chatted to Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire about Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest Government U-turn as he gambles on £36billion tax hike to save NHS.

During the discussion, Susanna got the name of MP Amanda Milling wrong, and instead called her Amanda Millman.

The presenter quickly corrected her blunder and quickly went on to apologise to the politician.

It was not the only blunder to happen on the programme.

Former Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern was due to discuss the Make A Wish Foundation segment live on location in Hampshire but he couldn’t hear Ben and Susanna in the ITV studio back in London.

Susanna quickly apologised to Stephen and the group involved and promised viewers that they will appear on the ITV breakfast show later in the week.

Ben, 46, added that the GMB team will upload videos from Stephen so fans can watch his chat about the Make A Wish Foundation.

Earlier in the show, Ben and Susanna teased Stephen’s appearance on the show and the pair reminded viewers about the time the cheeky TV star pranked them live on air.

The dynamic duo were targeted by Stephen earlier this year as part of a feature for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway called On Air Dares.

At the time, Ben warned Stephen that “your actions and phrases don’t tend to be the sort of things we do on breakfast telly”.

However, the Tipping Point host and pal Susanna got on board with the dares which led to Ben dropping the phrase “oh no girlfriend” into the broadcast when talking about watching Line of Duty before saying he didn’t want any “Susanna bananas” in another link.

However, they refused to follow Stephen’s instruction to “pretend someone has farted”.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
