Team GB Tom Daley reveals knitting masterpiece he went viral for at Tokyo Olympics 2020

Team GB’s Tom Daley has shown off the incredible results of all the knitting he did at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

When the 27-year-old wasn’t hard at work winning a gold medal, he spent his free time knitting while watching the rest of the Games.

And now he’s shown off his efforts in the form of an amazing white cardigan.

It features the Union Jack, the Team GB logo and the Olympic rings on the back, with “GBR” on one arm and the flag on the other while on the left breast of the cardigan is Tokyo, written in Hiragana.

The diver took to Instagram to share a video of himself modelling the cardigan which he paired with a white Team GB t-shirt and a pair of blue shorts.

“So I finished the jumper and here we are,” Tom said in the video. “It’s very bright right now.”

Gesturing to the front of the cardigan, he said: “This says Tokyo, we’ve got GBR, we’ve got Union Jack.”

“Something that I could say I had made in Tokyo, during the Olympics!

“I did a @teamgb logo on the back, with a flag and GBR on the shoulders and Tokyo embroidered onto the front! What do you think?!”

His followers immediately rushed to the comments to praise the creation.

One wrote: “I’ve been knitting for many years, and still I wouldn’t be able to make that! Especially the intricate writing. You’re a legend! It’s so beautiful.”

“He’s so precious I swear. Love the cardigan it’s like the best thing I’ve seen,” another fan agreed.

Tom said that he kept up his knitting throughout the Olympic events because it “kept him sane”.

Photos of him knitting during the women’s 3m springboard final soon went viral.

Tom later explained to his followers: “I thought I would come on here to just say the one thing that has kept me sane through this whole process is my love for knitting and crocheting and stitching.”
