The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was left red-faced during Thursday’s programme after his comedic impression of Prime Minister Boris Johnson failed to land.
Bradley was assisting contestant Joy in her face-off against chaser Shaun Wallace – AKA The Dark Destroyer – in order to score a tasty £8,000.
And Joy was asked who was the author behind the 2014 book The Churchill Factor – and thankfully, she’d already read it, so knew the answer was Boris Johnson.
“It was a good book, actually!” Joy remarked, as Bradley congratulated her on her correct answer.
He joked: “That’s the answer we were looking for, yes,” in an uncanny impression of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
But Shaun quickly put him to rights, as he snapped: “Sounded nothing like him.”
Bradley was left desperately backtracking from his admission, as he said: “That was me doing Tony Blair with a mouthful of marbles!”
Boris’s book The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History delved deeper into the life of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, praising his efforts during the Second World War especially.
Boris at the time wrote of Churchill: “He alone saved our civilisation”
It’s hardly the first time Bradley has attempted an impression of one celeb or another, having left fans in hysterics with a satirical parody of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer.
In October last year, contestant Danielle had stepped up to the podium to answer the question: “In EastEnders, which innocent character wrongly went to prison for the murder of Lucy Beale?”
The available options were Max Branning, Phil Mitchell, or Mick Carter.
She answered Max Branning, which was correct.
Bradley couldn’t resist impersonating Max Branning actor Danny Dyer, putting on a hilarious facial expression and speaking in a husky voice.
In Thursday’s instalment of The Chase, all four of the contestants – Joy, Tebby, Chloe and Dominic – made it through to face off with Shaun during the Final Chase.
And though Shaun slipped up on a few questions, he wasn’t holding back when it came to psyching the contestants out.
He fearlessly told Tebby, who had originally wanted to go into law, “So, I put you off law, have I? Now I’m gonna put you off quizzing!”
The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
