The Chase's Shaun Wallace says 'it won't be the same' if ITV co-star retires

The Chase star Shaun Wallace has explained life on the ITV programme just “won’t be the same” if Bradley Walsh decides to retire.

From the very first series in 2009, Shaun Wallace and Mark Labbett have supported Bradley Walsh on the hit prime time game show.

After growing a small army of six chasers and hosting the gig every weekday from Monday to Friday for a whopping 12 years, it’s inevitable that the programme can’t go on forever with the same cast.

Bradley was invited to appear on Jonathan Ross’s chat show on Saturday night and it wasn’t long before talk turned to retirement.

Speaking honestly and openly about his future plans, the veteran TV presenter explained that he had no time due to his busy work commitments.

Shaun opened up about Bradley possibly retiring soon

He told Jonathan: “You know what, in a couple of years time I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it.”

Bradley added: “I don’t actually have time off.

“I have meetings, I have personal appearances I have to make and stuff like that with other things I’ve got going on, so it’s quite tricky to juggle it about.

“The Chase allows me to do the other stuff which I really want to do – not that I don’t love doing The Chase.”

Birmingham Live has reported that long standing chaser Shaun – who is better known as the Dark Destroyer on the programme – certainly had something to say about Brad’s latest comments.

Discussing the host’s retirement, Shaun said: “Let’s hope not, I’ve not heard that.

“But if I’ve got anything to do with it, he’ll be going until his last breath.”

The Governess – also known as Anne Hegerty – recently put Brad’s retirement speculation to bed when speaking on a podcast.

In a discussion on the My Time Capsule podcast, she said: “I mean, I think this was Brad just talking off the cuff. I don’t think he has any plans to retire.

“I think he just meant, you know, obviously, ‘I can’t go on forever’.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
