This Morning guest vet Dr Scott Miller was left red-faced on Friday’s episode of the daytime show, as host Dermot O’Leary branded him “embarrassing”.
Dr Scott was appearing on the show to discuss how to keep your pets safe at Halloween, with tips and advice for keeping dogs calm when trick or treaters come to the door and styling them out in spooky costumes.
Alison Hammond kicked off the segment by saying: “Now, it’s the spookiest time of the year but why should your pets…”
But Dermot interrupted her with a sinister, horror-movie style laugh, as she quizzed: “Is that a spooky noise?”
“Well, come on!” Dermot insisted. “No-one’s got anything?”
Obligingly, the sound editors played a growl-like sound in the studio’s overhead speakers, as Dermot exclaimed: “Thank you!”
But the sound drew to a close, as Dermot said: “Is that it?! Rubbish!”
“I think that was my tummy, actually, sorry guys!” Dr Scott chimed in – which is when things took a turn for the cringey.
Dermot remarked: “That was embarrassing!”
“That was the worst sound effect ever,” Alison commented, as Dermot added: “There must be a few in the locker upstairs.”
Fans at home, meanwhile, were left slightly baffled by the dress-up segment in general, as they took to social media to pen: “A dog catwalk, oh god!”
Someone else wrote: “My god this is an absolute car crash. Once again #ThisMorning gang thanks for the laughs! See you next week.”
“Am I the only one who rolls my eyes at this kinda thing? Can we not just let dogs be dogs?” another viewer wondered.
While a fourth typed: “Dressing dogs up, where did that idea come from?”
However, someone else was clearly enjoying the pet parade, as they penned: “Whoever’s idea it was to have the dogs being models on This Morning needs a pay rise! More please!”
“The cheapest and the best fashion segment they’ve ever done!” another social media user chimed in.
Elsewhere in the programme, viewers were left baffled by the appearance of an Adele ‘lookalike’, who had dropped £11,000 on a gastric bypass surgery in order to look more like her songwriting icon.
She is planning further surgery on her arms and stomach to have excess skin removed.
Despite Maria Herriott’s impressive vocal talents, fans streamed to Twitter to raise their thoughts about the odd segment.
One confused fan wrote: “Are we supposed to think that that woman, who clearly isn’t Adele, is Adele?”
Someone else penned: “”Who’s the mystery guest? Is it that [woman] that doesn’t look or sound like Adele again?”
This Morning airs from 10am weekdays on ITV.
