TOWIE star Chloe Brockett spoke out against being ‘slut-shamed’ by fellow castmates for enjoying casual sex with men she’s not in a relationship with.
Speaking to Chloe and Courtney on their new podcast, Who Wants to Adult Anyway, Chloe admitted that she “doesn’t care” if people judge her for her sex life.
Her defence came after fellow cast member Liam Gatsby called her a “bike” because of all the men she’s slept with.
Chloe called out the misogynistic mindset against women because of the double standard applied to men, she said: “There still is that glass ceiling where it’s more acceptable for a man to do something than a woman.”
Chloe also came under fire for having sex with James Lock, despite his on and off relationship with now ex-girlfriend Yasmin Oukhellou.
She said: “What is wrong with talking about the fact that I have sex? I wasn’t in a relationship with the person I had sex with, and I don’t want to be.”
The reality TV star commented on the double standards she had experienced after sleeping with Lockie. She said: “Not one person called him a ‘dirty little slut.'”
Chloe added that it’s only “small-minded” people that expect women to not enjoy their sex life and doesn’t see the problem with casual sex.
The star added: “So now I’m supposed to sit there and remain f****** celibate until I find my husband? I don’t think so.”
She said: “As long as you’re being safe, you’re not putting yourself in danger or your health in danger” then there is nothing wrong with it.
Chloe admitted that she was scared to have sex when she was younger because of the judgement she might have faced.
She said: “Growing up I went to a school where it wasn’t the thing to have sex – and if you were you were a slut.
“I was 17 when I lost my virginity because I was so worried losing it at school over what people would say about me.”
Chloe admitted she was furious to discover that fellow cast members expected her to regret her decision to sleep with Lockie, telling her it would be easier for her life if she did.
However, Chloe refused to be slut-shamed and made to regret her decisions in her sex life. She said: “If you’re both consenting what is the problem?”
TOWIE airs on Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe.
