Earlier in the year it was confirmed that the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert would take place at Buckingham Palace in 2022.
Entitled “Platinum Party at the Palace”, BBC will stage and produce the special live concert from The Queen’s Central London residence.
Brits will enjoy an extra bank holiday to mark the fact that Her Majesty will be the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
Celebrations will take place from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5, with the Platinum Party at the Palace taking place on Saturday, June 4.
The BBC will broadcast the special life concert that will “bring together the world’s biggest entertainment stars to celebrate the most significant and joyous moments from The Queen’s seven decade reign”.
So who will perform at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert? Here we take a closer look at who might take part in the special event.
Who will perform at Platinum Party at the Palace?
According to reports, Ed Sheehan and Stevie Wonder have been lined up to perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration.
An industry source told The Sun: “The BBC is going all out for their Party at the Palace to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“The concert will see a range of the world’s best musicians and entertainers put on a two-and-a-half-hour show, which will be broadcast live on BBC One.
“They have got Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder, who appeared at the Diamond Jubilee celebration, on the top of their list of performers and the organizers have already reached out.”
The source continued: ““Given the events of the past year and everything that has happened in the pandemic, the organizers want the Party at the Palace to be the biggest celebration of not only Her Majesty but of everything that is great about the UK.
“The BBC is making sure the acts reflect that and people can expect the best of the best when it comes to the line-up.”
Meanwhile, grime artist and presenter of Cvlture TV, Nik Nagarkar is hoping the UK grime and drill scene will be represented at the Queen’s celebrations.
He told Daily Star: “The music industry has taken the biggest beating since it’s conception, but during these crazy times it’s the UK grime and drill artists who have continued to thrive and rack up huge numbers more than any genre of music in the UK.
“The Queen’s Jubilee should reflect this and should showcase a range of diverse guests not the usual A-List celebrity type and to showcase underground musicians who have been affected during the pandemic.”
The Royal Family usually attracts some of the biggest names in the music industry.
In 2012, for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, huge stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, and Sir Elton John performed at Buckingham Palace. There’s also a hope that Elton will perform again, according to the source.
Official details about who will perform are yet to be released.
Members of the public will be invited to apply to attend the concert. Details of the ballot for UK residents will be released in due course.
