Adam Thomas has told how he jumped up and down on his late dad in a bid to resuscitate him after he died.
The Waterloo Road star tried to revive his father Dougie James after he found him on the sofa at his twin brother Scott’s house in November 2020.
Speaking on the Mancs On The Mic podcast that he does with Scott and their other brother Ryan, Adam said he regrets that it was his last memory of his dad.
The 33-year-old explained that on that day Scott’s cleaner had raised the alarm and that he was the first of the brothers to get there.
“I remember getting out of the car and running upstairs into Scott’s house, and just seeing him there laying on the sofa,” he said.
“I just thought, ‘I’ve got to try and help him’ so I’ve taken him off the couch and I’m trying to resuscitate him. I don’t know whether I’m doing it right or whether I’m doing it wrong. And I remember just thinking, ‘Wow, this is just not how I expected it to go’.”
Starting to cry, the star went on: “I’m like crying my eyes out going, ‘Come on, dad.’ I’m jumping up and down on my dad, trying to save him.”
Scott then started to comfort Adam and he continued: “It’s just so hard, because you don’t really talk about it that much and that’s the one thing that I regret, is that’s my last memory of my dad, you know, when I was jumping up and down on my dad trying to save his life.”
Adam said as he was trying to save Dougie, his phone started to ring.
He said: “Someone’s calling him. And it’s my dad singing Kung Foo Fighting, and I’m just like, ‘What is going on?’
“I just remember thinking, ‘My dad’s in the room right now just watching me trying to save his life, laughing his a*** off’.”
Dougie was a music promoter and sang with 70s band Dougie James And The Soul Train. He was 72 when he died.
