Alec Baldwin sued over 'reckless' Rust film set death by victim Halyna Hutchins' family

Actor Alec Baldwin has been sued by the family of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins for “unlimited damages”.

The family of Halyna, who died in October 2021, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alec on Tuesday.

It has also been filed against others who were also on the set of the low-budget Western film titled ‘Rust’.

This comes after the actor accidentally killed her with a prop gun after he fired it at her chest.

Alec was holding a revolver on the New Mexico set during filming rehearsals when it fired and killed Hutchins.

However, Alec has maintained his stance that it was Halyna herself who asked him to point the gun just off-camera and towards her armpit.

This comes after Alec’s public Twitter account appears to have been shut down late last year and appeared to be deleted from the social media platform.

When searching for the Hollywood star on the micro-blogging site, a message which reads “this account doesn’t exist” appears.

It comes after Alec gave his first television interview following the shock death of his Rust colleague Halyna Hutchins.

During the emotional chat with America’s ABC News, Alec became teary-eyed as he spoke in-depth and publicly for the first time about the tragedy that occurred on set on October 21.

Since the interview’s debut, the star’s main Twitter account became inactive days after being interviewed by ABC news TV host George Stephanopoulos.

Although Alec’s main account has been deleted, a second account, @AlecBaldwin___, remains to be live, with its most recent tweet being from October.

During the emotional interview, Alec discussed the tragedy which happened during the filming and included the unfortunate death of American cinematographer Halyna, 42, as she had been tragically shot on set.

In the pre-recorded interview that aired in December, Baldwin said he was “devastated” by the shooting.

However, he made the shocking claim that he insisted he held no responsibility for Halyna’s death as he had not brought live ammunition on set.
