Amy Winehouse’s beloved step-dad, Richard Collins has died, it has been confirmed in an emotional social media post.
The Londoner was admitted to the hospital in April with his wife Janis Winehouse sharing a health update with her Twitter followders.
Richard, 71, had supported Amy throughout her career and was often spotted alongside his wife at events.
Following the tragic death of Amy in July 2011, Richard became a director and trustee of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, supporting young people.
Sharing the devastating news, a statement read: “We are very sad to bring you the news that our trustee Richard Collins, has passed away this week.

“Devoted and caring husband to Janis, and Dad to Michael and Jess, we will always remember his great humour and sense of fun. Sending much love to all the family.”
Since the news broke, fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Richard, with some explaining that they managed to meet Amy’s mum thanks to Rich.
“What a beautifully kind man he was – he was so generous with Amy’s fans. Sending all our love and prayers to his family and Amy’s mother Janis at this difficult time,” said one.

While a second went on to say: “What a wonderful man. Absolutely devastating news. Sending all of my love to Janis.”
“This is truly awful news. Richard, you’ll be missed by many I have no doubt. Thank you for your generosity and kindness,” gushed a third.
“Devastated to hear such sad news – Richard was the absolute best of men and an incredible support to Janis & such a great ambassador for Amy’s legacy! Sending so much love to Janis Jessica & Michael,” shared a fourth.

Another commented: “Rest In Peace Richard, go and look after Amy in the afterlife, sending so so much love to you @JanisWinehouse Sorry for your loss.”
Amy’s friend, Naomi Parry said: “Lovely Richard, one of the good ones. The world has lost a beautiful soul.”
EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace penned: “An absolutely lovely man. I will miss him,” alongside a heart emoji.
On April 25, Janis Winehouse confirmed that Richard had been admitted to hospital, telling fans: “Hi all in Twitter land, hubby (Richard) has been in hospital since last week and we nearly lost him twice!
“I would like to thank all the medics @royalfree London for giving him great care and attention. I sadly will not respond back to your tweets but only give updates. Janis xxx.”
