Anne Hegerty reveals her ITV The Chase ritual before transforming into The Governess

The Chase star Anne Hegerty has opened up about her pre-show ritual before transforming into The Governess.

The 64-year-old star joined the cast of the award-winning ITV quiz show for its second series back in 2010.

She is also a chaser on the Australian version of the show alongside co-star Mark Labbett.

However, fans may not know that Anne has a routine which she completes ahead of every show.

Before dons her signature grey power suit jacket and matching skirt, she has a quick warm-up before entering the studio to take on the contestants in a series of general knowledge questions.

Speaking to Daily Star at the National Reality TV Awards last week, Anne said: “Someone comes in with a laptop and he starts firing questions at me.

“Most of these have been taken from the Southport Quiz League and it’s just something to warm me up

“I then put on the costume and makeup.”

Anne went on to cheekily reveal she hopes no new blood joins the Chaser line-up anytime soon.

“I hope not! But, you know if they introduce one, I mean, we won’t get told.

“It will kind of be sprung on us. I guess we’ll just have to put up with it.”

Away from The Chase, Anne has appeared on gruelling reality sow I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of here!, where she finished seventh place.

However, she isn’t planning on returning to the jungle for the rumoured All-Stars series.

She said: “I think if I was going to be doing that I would have heard about it by now.

“I think it’s probably going to be series winners.

“Harry [Redknapp] is very welcome to do that with my blessing but not for me.”

Anne will reportedly play a housekeeper in an upcoming new sitcom.

Gammon is created by Adam Bostock-Smith, who also writes for the ITV quiz show.

Speaking about the role, Anne said: “Our writer Adam has written a sitcom called Gammon about these two dim brothers who live together.

“I’m the housekeeper and I’m the only sane person in the place.

“We don’t know what channel it will be on yet, but there is a full script for the pilot episode and an outline for the first six episodes.”

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
