Antiques Road Trip presenter Irita Marriott was left horrified as she sent a “rare” item crashing to the ground in the latest show.
Wednesday’s episode (September 14) of the BBC programme saw the antiques expert and dealer plunder the wares of the Top Banana Antiques Mall in Tetbury.
While looking for items to sell at auction, Irita made a grave error while appraising a 19th century brass and copper bed warmer.

Deeming the item as the “Rolls Royce” of bed warmers, she said: “I think that’s a definite possibility, that one.
“That could be some hot stuff at auction.”
Seconds later, Irita was left horrified as the item crashed to the ground after she failed to balance it correctly.
Immediately snatching it from the floor, the panicked presenter pulled an agonised expression and whispered: “All breakages must be paid for.”
Fortunately, the bed warmer suffered no obvious damage and Irita purchased the item.
She also acquired the bed warmer for an incredibly reasonable price.
Labelled at £95, Irita went on to buy the item for the bargain price of £20.
She later sold the bed warmer for an underwhelming total of £28 at auction – making a measly £8 profit.
Commenting on the item’s disappointing haul, Irita said: “It’s less than what I thought it might make but that’s kind of been my pattern in this auction.”
Her co-star and auctioneer Raj Bisram agreed with her appraisal, adding: “That was a bit quick.”
Earlier in the episode, Irita had explained the historical origins of the bed warmer to viewers at home.
She said: “It’s basically a 19th century electric blanket.
“I have seen many of these and this is pretty much a Rolls Royce of one.”
