BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty said she’d never star on CBeebies Bedtime Stories – but she knows who would be perfect in the job.
Naga said she would never do the BBC kids programme as she has a “terrible voice”, but she made a strong case for her co-anchor Charlie Stayt as she thinks he has a “great voice” for reading children’s stories.
The star-studded CBeebies show has seen celebrities like Hollywood hunk Tom Hardy and TV presenter Cat Deeley red bedtime stories for the younger viewers at home.
It comes as Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, is set to appear on the show to read one of her favourite childhood books to kids – Jill Tomlinson’s The Own Who Was Afraid of the Dark.
She will make history as the first royal to read to kids on the BBC show – and it’ll air during Children’s Mental Health Week.

Speaking on Friday’s Breakfast (February 11), Naga and Charlie welcomed the show’s Executive Producer, John Harkins.
Trying to get her pal Charlie a slot on the show after the Duchess, Naga said: “Charlie’s got a great voice…”
Sensing a job pitch, John replied: “Is this a pitch?”
Naga replied: “Well I wouldn’t pitch for me, I’ve got a terrible voice, but Charlie’s got a great voice!”

Charlie said: “Presumably, part of the fun of it is they come in and they are themselves, they perform it. You must have quite a lot of fun with what their delivery is like.”
John replied: “One of the great things about Bedtime Stories is it gives actors and figureheads and people who wouldn’t normally get an opportunity to do this to try out voices, to try out different lines.”
The producer revealed that he does give performance notes to the celebrities during filming.

He said: “They all love it. It’s such a wonderful thing to do, they all absolutely embrace it because it’s such a great thing to do.”
Kate’s tale, The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, sees a baby barn owl named Plop overcome his fears of the dark.
She can be seen sitting cross-legged on a rug by the fire.
The Duchess of Sussex’s broadcast will air on 13 February.
