BBC Breakfast's Nina Warhurst takes swipe at Charlie Stayt saying he needs 'improving'

BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst savagely swiped at co-host Charlie Stayt saying the male presenters needs to up their game.

Nina, 41, replaced Thursday regular Naga Munchetty to present today’s show (August 18), alongside veteran Charlie, 60, but things soon turned savage when they entered a discussion about upcycling.

Sharing a selection of pictures from fans who turned “trash to treasure,” someone had upcycled the stain glass panels on his sons old door and transformed it into a free standing frame.

Charlie already showed signs of confusion when looking at the picture, saying: “Okay so that still looked like a door to me but yeah I think, that’s is just in isolation isn’t it?”c

“Yeah I think it’s got a shelf underneath it, very handy. I love that for your entrance hall of something,” Nina chimed.

The next photo was an upcycled chest of drawers as Nina quipped: “It’s amazing what some paint can do.”

A seemingly unimpressed Charlie added: “It’s presumably still a chest of drawers is it?”

“Yes but she’s given it a lick of paint and put a new design on it,” Nina responded.

“I wonder what this used to be?” said Charlie before a photo of an upcycled toilet with flowers placed inside was displayed on the screen.

“I’m trying to work it’s tricky isn’t it. We’re thinking maybe it used to be a toilet Charlie…”

Met with no response, Nina giggled: “Sent in by Sarah, thank you.”

After being shown a picture of a chair that had been given “quite a bit of colour,” Charlie said: “Is that upcycling? Because that’s just changing the material on a seat.”

“To make it look better, yes, upcycling,” Nina informed her co-host.

Charlie responded: “Okay,” before Nina told him: “You bar is too high!”

Still confused by the concept of upcycling, the broadcaster stated: “I was thinking you were going to have a thing that was completely transformed into a different use entirely.”

After clarifying that the object is just being used again and improved, Charlie asked his co-host if there was anything in the studio they could use as an example.

“Everything is in pristine condition in this studio,” Nina claimed before letting out a huge giggle.

With a producer giving her an idea, she savagely clarified: “Male presenters, yeah.”

“We’ll ignore that suggestion that came in my ear just then,” Charlie simply responded.
