BBC MasterChef has been axed after Her Majesty the Queen passed away today, due to the episode seeing contestants making dishes to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee.
Journalist and TV insider Scott Bryan took to Twitter earlier today to announce the BBC One schedule shake-up.
Taking to the social media platform, Scott penned: “BBC One have scheduled shows for this evening (so far) but have replaced Celebrity MasterChef with an episode of The Repair Shop.”

He added: “I understand that Celebrity MasterChef won’t be airing on BBC One tonight as the contestants were making a dish to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”
Posting a screen grab of what was supposed to be tonight’s TV listing, the BBC website stated that September 8 would see episode 14 of Celebrity Masterchef Series 17 air.
The listing read: “The semi-finals continue with the seven remaining celebrities having to cook for Dame Mary Berry. They also prepare a dish in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee.”
Because of the untimely nature, Masterchef was pulled from the air leaving a gap in the schedule – which has now been filled with tributes to the late Queen.
Fans seemed to be completely divided by the news, with one seemingly upset by the news.
“Mourn the Queen if you must. It’s not my bag but I respect your right to do so. But I really, *really* wanted to watch Masterchef,” fumed one.
While another said: “No way was the celeb masterchef ep tonight meant to have them recreating a dish dedicated to the queen for the jubilee. Talk about timing.”
Television schedules across the entire United Kingdom – and no doubt in most corners of the world – have been shaken up after the Queen’s death was announced.
Her sad passing came hours after a Royal spokesman revealed that Queen Elizabeth II was experiencing ill-health.
In a statement released earlier today, the country began to worry when they heard: “Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
But at around 6:30pm, the palace announced that Her Majesty had died earlier today – with tributes flooding in.
