BBC viewers were left stunned on the latest episode of The Traitors after two contestants’ secret past as soap stars were exposed.
Maddy Smedley, who is a fan favourite on the hit BBC series, stunned viewers after revealing she once appeared in mega soap EastEnders and has a role in rival soap Casualty.
While the star has been telling her fellow contestants she is a receptionist at a care home on the series, tonight she left viewers gobsmacked when she admitted that acting was her real passion.

She told the camera away from her fellow players: “I do work in a care home but my main passion is acting. I played Rita in EastEnders – the homeless woman, and also I played someone without a womb in Casualty.”
She added: “I feel like it means like I can spot if someone’s putting on a performance.”
Fans rushed to react, with one saying: “ OMG Maddy played Rita the homeless woman in #EastEnders!!!”
A second echoed: “Can’t believe ar Maddy was in Eastenders, bring homeless Rita back I say #TheTraitors!”
A third added: “Was not expecting the #TheTraitors #EastEnders cross-over episode.”
Player John McManus has also appeared on EastEnders. the spa therapist and actor has also appeared in Taggart, Taboo and the BBC Les Misérables.
The 49-year-old first graduated from the Arts Educational Schools London in 1995 and went on to feature in performances in one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best-loved musicals, Cats the Musical, back in 2020.
Another familiar face is contestant Ivan, who three years ago, made his TV debut on another programme – Only Connect, the BBC Two quiz series hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell.

Meanwhile, the chosen traitors are tasked with going undetected while choosing one of the other contestants to “murder” each night, with contestants being in with a chance of winning a share of £120,000 on the Claudia Winkleman hosted show.
