Coronation Street actress Harriet Bibby was left emotional as she was forced to say goodbye to one of her co-stars.
The actress, who plays Summer Spellman on the ITV cobbles, has been working closely with fellow actor Sean Chriscole over the last few months as Summer continues to battle an eating disorder.
Summer’s battle with diabetes has left her worried about her weight, and the added pressure of trying to get into Oxford University left her resorting to cheating in her A-Level exams.
Sean has played an exam invigilator on the soap, who accompanied Summer to get her bag when she needed her insulin and caught her attempting to cheat – before Aadi Alahan took the blame.
Announcing his initial part on the soap, an elated Sean said on Twitter: “Set your TVs to record, I’ll be popping up in Parts 1 & 2 of next Wednesday’s @itvcorrie with Harriet Bibby!”
But his time on the soap didn’t last long, as Sean announced on Wednesday night (June 8) that his role had come to an end.
Tweeting various snaps of him around the Corrie set, he wrote: “That’s me over and out on @itvcorrie! My appreciation and thanks to @itvstudios, Kev Boyle and Gennie Radcliffe for giving me a chance to shine a wee bit on Coronation Street.
“I’m always grateful to everyone who’s ever believed in and championed me over the years x.”
Harriet then quickly jumped into the comments section to bid adieu to Sean, writing back: “Was sooo much fun working with you!” and two praise emojis.
Other fans also chimed in to congratulate Sean, with one writing: “Well done Seany!! You were fab… as always!”
Someone else said: “I watched last night, great to see you on Corrie Sean, well done!”
Another cheekily added: “I think there’s scope for a spin-off series. ‘Sean the Invigilator’. No-one gets past him with his all-seeing power and high-tech hearing.
“When he pulls on his sleeveless pullover, examinees visibly quiver with fear.”
Sean also celebrated a YouTube clip of his episode reaching 22,000 views, writing on Twitter: “22k views?! That’s a cool feeling. @itvcorrie.”
Along with his appearances in Corrie, Sean has appeared in podcast series The Pod Play, along with TV series Lagging and 2016 flick Bastion.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
