Former Countdown host Nick Hewer made a savage dig at ex-colleague Susie Dent after she made sent a touching gesture to Anne Robinson on Twitter
Anne, 77, announced on Monday that she was leaving Countdown after just one year – revealing she has ‘a lot going on’ and wants to enjoy family life.
As the show’s lexicographer, who has appeared in Countdown’s Dictionary Corner since 1992, took to Twitter to share her well wishes to Anne, Nick stunned fans by calling her a “brown noser.”
Susie tweeted: “Some Countdown news. Wishing Anne all the very best in her new adventures with her grandchildren and beyond.”

The Apprentice star Nick seemed to think she was sucking up to Anne, writing: “Well that’s a sure fire certainty for Private Eye’s OBN [Order of the Brown Nose] award. Bravo Susie!”
The ex-Weakest Link star became the show’s first female host when she stepped into Nick’s shoes in June last year and has been embroiled in feud rumours.
The rumours started amid claims the cast are ‘relieved’ she is leaving following reports of an on set feud with Sushie and Rachel Riley – who Anne reportedly found ‘too noisy’.

Anne is said to have clashed with maths whizz Rachel, 35, over dressing rooms, make-up artists and wardrobe budgets backstage.
Although Anne denied her decision had anything to do with Rachel, saying: “There isn’t a question of my going because of a rift, that’s nonsense.”
She said she’d “had a blast hosting this wonderful show”.
Anne added: “I stayed longer than I signed up for. Now it is time for an older woman to take the reins.

“I hope I’ve encouraged TV bosses to realise not all women at the wrong end of their 70s are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks.
“In fact, the genius of Countdown is that it’s a brilliant way to keep the brain exercised. I run 5k most days of the week. And I can now do an anagram at twice the speed I could this time last year.
“But I have grandchildren, a large garden and a home in New York, more deserving of my attention.”
Richard Osman has been tipped as the early favourite to replace Anne on Countdown after the host announced she was stepping down.
TV star Richard, 51, recently quit his show Pointless after 13 years so would be free to take on new commitments.
