BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and Sally Nugent struggled to keep a straight face as they updated viewers on the latest development regarding a cheeky pair of wallabies named Ant and Dec.
During Tuesday’s instalment of the popular BBC morning show, the 44 year old and his 50-year-old co-host were left in stitches during a heartwarming segment on the news show.
As viewers tuned in for their morning dose of the latest news headlines, they learnt how a loveable wallaby named after the TV presenter Ant McPartlin had escaped from a petting zoo in Lincolnshire.
The furry friend escaped for nearly three weeks before he was successfully reunited with his brother Dec where owners have installed reinforced gates around the enclosure.
Dan reassured viewers that the comedy duo had been reunited at last after nearly a month apart as the tiny tot rested up in his enclose once more.
He opened with: “Now for something totally different. A wallaby who went walkabout for nearly three weeks has finally been caught and returned home.”
Sally added: “And – named after the TV presenter Ant McPartlin – managed to get himself out of his petting zoo in Lincolnshire.
“It just gets better and better – he’s now been reunited with his brother Dec,” she said as she giggled through the segment.
The pair couldn’t help but chuckle away after they learnt how the mischievous wallaby had evaded capture for so long before being safely returned to the centre.
Following the adorable VT, Sally commented on how much she loved the brotherly duo in the petting zoo.
She added: “Aww I love that – they’re reunited. I like that they’re brother’s – that’s really cute.”
It comes after the dad-of-three revealed his affectionate new nickname for Sally during one of their morning shows.
Witty Walker’s pun branded the brunette beauty as “Side-on Sally” which is a reference to Al Green’s 190 hit Ride Sally Ride as the pair sat side-by-side on the iconic red sofa.
Dan and Sally have been presenting the hit BBC morning show together from Monday to Wednesday since late 2021 – after Loused Minchin left the show after nearly 20 years on the show.
