Dan Walker reveals Nadiya Bychkova's sweet Strictly 'promise' to him on The One Show

Dan Walker let slip that Strictly Come Dancing professional Nadiya Bychkova had made a sweet promise to him after the show.

The 44-year-old BBC Breakfast star appeared on The One Show on Thursday (February 10) to speak about his recent stint on the ballroom dancing programme.

During a chat with hosts Alex Jones, 44, and Ronan Keating, 44, Dan opened up about a cute gesture that Nadiya had insisted was included in the recent Strictly tour.

The duo had become incredibly popular with viewers and judges alike for their fun-loving lobster routine during their fight for the Glitterball trophy.

Knowing that Dan was unable to attend the tour because of his conflicting work schedule, Nadiya promised Dan that she would honour her partner with the famous pincer move.

Alex opened the discussion: “Dan, we’ll have to talk Strictly first. Now Adam [Lambert – who was on screen], hopefully you saw Dan on Strictly he was fantastic.”

The host gushed: “His lobster dance… well he blew everybody out of the water.”

Looking slightly bashful as a clip of the newsreader in action popped up on screens, Dan added: “I had a lovely time.”

“Lots of your colleagues are on the tour of course and when asked what dance you’d do again, you said this is the dance [the lobster] that you would do?” asked Alex.

“Yeah every time, I mean that’s the one that people talk to me about more than anything else,” replied Dan.

“Well of course. And Nadiya has found a way to put a few lobster moves into the tour for you,” interjected the Welsh presenter.

“She did promise me that she would bring the lobster back,” commented the red sofa host – as he glanced at the screen where Nadiya was shown keeping her word.

He explained: “And here she is. The show finishes with her and Katya lobstering their way off stage.”

Speaking about how popular the lobster dance had become, Dan told Alex and Roman that he’d even been mobbed by fans in the street who had recreated the move.

Dan joked: “Do you know what, when I came to London last week, I walked past two lovely young ladies outside a restaurant and they nudged as they walked past and they couldn’t resist lobstering across the road.

“So it’s very weird to have a dance move that people keep doing.”
