Happy Monday’s legend Mark ‘Bez’ Barry was known in the band for shaking his maracas and his iconic dancing in the 90s.
Since the glory days, 57-year-old Bez put down his maracas and swapped them for a pair of skates as he stars in ITV’s Dancing On Ice 2022.
In the competition, the Step On dancer is the show’s first-ever contestant to wear a helmet during live performances.
Reflecting on his 30-year-long music career the music legend has encountered many brutal accidents both on-and-off stage.
With Bez being terrified of falling flat on his head in front of the nation, Daily Star delves deep into his most brutal accidents.
Dancing On Ice 2022
The 90s star has proven to be somewhat accident-prone during training for the live shows with his pro partner Angela Egan.
He confessed to being absolutely “rubbish” in his skates and had his helmet “flying off” as he hit his head on the ice during rehearsals.
ITV bosses have remained fearful and have suggested he wear a melon helmet during live performances.
He revealed: “And every time I smack my head on the ice, you know what I mean… I think they’re a little bit frightened that I may do myself an injury.”
Motorcycle accident
In 1999 the music mogul experienced a horrific motorcycle accident which landed him in intensive care.
Bez came flying off a high-powered bike while driving to Edinburgh in the tragic incident.
He planned to discharge himself after a week but his condition deteriorated as he had a punctured lung and broken ribs.
Bez’s girlfriend at the time said: “It’s amazing that he’s even alive, let alone walking and talking.”
Broken arm three times
It is not the first time Bez has injured himself whilst in charge of a vehicle.
In 1992, during the infamous Barbados recording sessions for the Mondays‘ final album …Yes, Please! he broke his arm.
The 28-year-old rock-and-roll star crashed his jeep and complicated matters after going water-skiing before the arm had time to heal.
He then broke his arm for the second time in a boat accident and the third when his girlfriend sat on it.
There’s no doubt the musical legend is a little accident prone!
