Dancing on Ice fans beg for Stephen Mulhern to return and replace Phillip Schofield

Phillip Schofield returned to Dancing on Ice with his good pal Holly Willoughby – but some ITV viewers thought Stephen Mulhern did a better job hosting the show.

Phil normally hosts the ITV ice skating show with Holly, but he was forced to sit out of his usual presenting duties last week after catching Covid.

Instead, Catchphrase star Stephen Mulhern was brought in to replace Phil – so he hosted alongside Holly in his absence.

Gutted Phil had to watch from home, but he was delighted to return to the show on Sunday (February 13).

However, it seems some fans of the show preferred Stephen as presenter, and they made their thoughts clear on Twitter.

One wrote: “bring back Stephen as presenter im bored already, All Philip does is shout!”

A second said: “Come back Stephen and rescue this show”

A third commented: “Why oh why did they have to bring smug Phil back. Downbeat compared to last week. ITV should’ve kept Stephen Mulhern if they don’t want people fast forwarding.”

A fourth agreed: “No offence to Phil but I think Stephen Mulhern is a better fit for #DancingOnIce his presenting was part of my childhood with CITV and Ministry of Mayhem”

Other fans were delighted to see Phil back on the show, though.

One said: “unpopular opinion….. im glad Phil is back, i missed him!”

A second penned: “I know this is nothing to do with skating but Phil and Holly are extremely well dressed”

Welcoming her pal Phil back onto the show, Holly said: “Welcome back, Phil!”

Phil said: “Thank you I missed it last week. I had serious FOMO [fear of missing out] made better by four or five gin and tonics.”

Holly laughed: “Always helps.”

Phil previously told This Morning that he was ‘bored out of his mind’ during his Covid isolation, and he took a cheeky swipe at Stephen as he watched him on TV.

Speaking on the show, Stephen said: “I know Phil is watching. Phil, I’m having fun.”

Teasing Stephen on his Instagram Story, Phil replied: “Not too much fun Mulhern… I know where you live.”
