The Vamps drummer Connor Ball split his chin open live on air as he danced the Charleston with his professional partner Alexandria Schauman on Dancing on Ice.
After the pair completed their stunning performance paramedics immediately leaped into action as they rushed over to the musician with tissues to help stop the bleeding on air.
As they received their incredible slew of scores from the judges, the 25-year-old was told to apply pressure to his wound after his stitches burst open on the ice.
After the judges shared their thoughts on the intricate routine, Stephen explained how the hunk sustained the injury backstage.
And it appeared as though the show suffered a last minute shake-up as the Catchphrase host revealed how the pair were supposed to open the show on Sunday night (February 6).
He told viewers at home: “Just to point out, I don’t know if you can see this. Obviously Dancing on Ice is completely live.
“Connor just before the show – he was supposed to open the entire show – but had an accident backstage.
“He had stitches before the show so he couldn’t go on first and they’ve now opened.
He added: “Mate, first of all I don’t know how you still performed, it must be going through your head. What happened backstage?”
While the injured contestant attempted to stop the bleeding he revealed the real reason why he couldn’t perform first at the start of the show.
Connor explained: “I was a bit stressed about the spin, so I kept trying to perfect the spin and I slipped out and smacked my face on the ice.”
Still concerned for his welfare, Stephen added: “Well, go and get it seen to, it’s dripping on your shirt and keep pressure on it, but well done mate.”
And fans soon flooded to Twitter to congratulate the star for powering through the routine despite his injury.
One user penned: “Connor did so well today … and with an injury, he’s my winner alright! #teamconnor #DancingOnIce.”
Another agreed: “#teamconnor #DancingOnIce Conor deserves your vote he’s top of the leader board who isn’t a professional dancer and is injured and still danced :).”
A third chimed in with: “Kudos to Connor for carrying on even though he was injured #DancingOnIce.”
