Davina McCall has clapped back at some of the furious GPs who have slammed the TV presenter for her new documentary on how she has come to terms with the menopause.
On Sunday (May 1), the brunette beauty took to Twitter to share a sneak preview of her upcoming documentary, Sex, Mind and the Menopause, set to drop at 9pm on Monday (May 2) on Channel 4.
In the clip, the 54-year-old confessed she suffered with “horrific” brain fog a few years ago which left her unable to read autocues and often left her scrabbling to remember celebrities’ names while presenting her high profile shows.
But it didn’t take long before medical professionals flooded to her post to share their thoughts on her controversial opinions of the medical service.
The mum-of-three tweeted: “I wondered if we needed to make another doc after our first one. But there were so many more questions that needed answering.
“We talk brain fog, testosterone, what to do if u can’t take HRT & more. My documentary Sex, Mind and the Menopause is Mon 9pm @channel4 #DavinaMenopause.”
It was at this point that an avid follower launched to her post to argue that the doctors are “working their a*se off” without the need for additional criticism.
The enraged user penned: “Stop making out GPs know nothing, I work tirelessly to keep updated and to help my patients, remember we look after patients from birth to death and there’s a lot to know about everything in between, I’m fed up of being bashed continuously when I’m working my a*se off #annoyed.”
It was at this point that Davina rushed to support the disgruntled professional on social media whilst also emphasising that more needs to be done to support women going through the menopause.
The presenter replied: “Oh I always say it’s not drs fault. You sound amazing. And I always say many GPs are doing amazing work x.
“But if you heard/read some of the stories on here it would make u weep. So, I’m sure [you] agree more needs to be done in terms of GPs education?” which she signed off with two heart emojis.
It comes after the star confessed she initially thought making a documentary about the condition in older women would be “the biggest mistake” of her career.
Her first documentary on the transition, titled Davina McCall: Sex, Myths and the Menopause, aired back in 2021 which gave viewers a stronger grasp of the effects of menopause on women’s minds and bodies.
Menopause can cause brain fog, depression, hot flushes and mood swings as well as a host of other symptoms almost half the population have been or will go through at some point in their lifetimes.
