TV personality Denise Van Outen is reportedly “fuming” at her ex-partner Eddie Boxshall as she believes he “used” her for fame.
The 47-year-old and her former fiancée captured the nations’ hearts with their lovable personalities on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox.
But following the couple’s unexpected split, Eddie, 46, seemingly wants the limelight back and is now pursuing a career in showbiz.
Denise however is not best pleased with Eddie’s pursuit of fame, according to recent reports.
The couple put an end to their seven-and-a-half-year relationship in January, however during their time together Eddie became Denise’s go-to red carpet date.
The Mirror reports that Eddie, who works as a DJ, now plans to join the celeb circuit as a name in his own right after enjoying the “luxuries” that come with being a TV celeb.
It is believed that the Gogglebox star is also reaching out to celebrity representatives to help “kickstart his career” which has left his ex-partner Denise “shocked” and “fuming”.
Talking to New Magazine, a source explained: “Eddie has approached well-known publicists to represent him and help kickstart his career. Denise is shocked and naturally fuming about it all.
“He enjoyed the lifestyle Denise gave him. He enjoyed being the other half of a celebrity and now they’re not together anymore he’s looking to take advantage of that.”
Another source also added: “Denise made Eddie famous and now he’s hooked on it.”
Daily Star has contacted Denise’s representatives for comment.
Earlier this week, Eddie seemed to reflect on his breakup on social media as he praised his former lover Denise.
To mark International Woman’s Day, the star commended the former Big Breakfast presenter for being the “most driven woman in her business” as well as being an “amazing mummy” to her 11-year-old daughter Betsy.
In January Denise released a statement revealing that she has split from Eddie.
While appearing on the Before We Say I Do podcast last year, Denise seemed to insinuate that there may have been cracks in her relationship as she admitted she flirts more at work than she did at home.
She expressed: “I’m very aware of me putting us in situations where I’m not giving enough. I’m not as affectionate as I should be and I feel like I’ve lost my way a little bit within the relationship.
“It’s a good relationship but I think it could be better if we take the time to discuss what is bothering us about each other so we can move forward,” she said.
