Disney has released a brand new trailer for the live-action Little Mermaid, showing Halle Bailey as the iconic princess Ariel.
The first-look teaser was revealed on Friday (September 9) at the Disney D23 Expo in California – and it’s fair to say fans are very excited.
In the trailer, fans are greeted by crashing waves and clips of sea creatures swimming through the coral reefs and deep water.

They then get a glimpse of actress Halle, with her green mermaid tail complete with flowing fins and glowing scales.
The 22-year-old swims through the beautiful scenery as the music grows, before she takes a peek inside a wrecked ship.
As the scene then focusses on Ariel, fans get a look at the full character, with her shimmering tail, purple sea shell bra and flowing red locks.
Halle, who is a singer alongside her sister Chloe, then proves her musical skills as she sings a snippet of The Little Mermaid’s most iconic song, Part Of Your World.
The trailer ends with Halle’s Ariel sitting on a rock as she looks up to the surface of the sea, with the light bouncing off the waves and onto her glistening skin.
The highly-anticipated movie is set for release on May 26, 2023, and is the next in the line-up of Disney’s live-action remakes.
This week, the live-action version of Pinocchio was released on Disney+, with Tom Hanks playing the role of Geppetto.
The Little Mermaid has a star-studded cast, with Melissa McCarthy playing the role of sea witch Ursula, while Javier Bardem will play Ariel’s dad, King Triton.
The role of Prince Eric went to British actor Jonah Hauer-King, who has previously appeared in Little Women, This Is The Night and Old Boys, among others.
There are also some CGI characters – such as Flounder and Sebastian – with 15-year-old Jacob Tremblay voicing Ariel’s best fishy friend Flounder.
The movie was first revealed to be in production in May 2016, with it announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda would co-produce the project alongside Marc Platt.
While the cast is now complete, early rumours suggested Lindsay Lohan, Chris Evans and even Ariana Grande were linked to the movie.
