Country music icon Dolly Parton has paid tribute to The Queen, as she recalled meeting Her Majesty in 1977.
Britain’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, died at Balmoral on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96.
Paying tribute to The Queen, singer Dolly shared a photograph of her meeting Her Majesty at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations in 1977.

At the event, Dolly performed with stars including The Jackson 5, entertainer Sydney Devine and comedian Frankie Howerd, as part of the celebrations.
Alongside the photograph, the singer paid a touching tribute to The Queen, writing: “I had the honour of meeting and performing for Queen Elizabeth II on my trip to London in 1977.
“She carried herself with grace and strength her entire life. May she Rest In Peace.
“My thoughts are prayers are with her family at this time. Love, Dolly.”
Dolly joins other figures from the world of entertainment who have paid tribute to The Queen, including Hollywood stars Catherine Zeta Jones and Sharon Stone, TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh and former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin.
Sir Elton John said in a statement: “She was an inspiring presence to be around, and led the country through some of our greatest, and darkest, moments with grace, decency and a genuine caring warmth.
“Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly.”
Dame Helen Mirren, who played Her Majesty in the 2006 film The Queen, also paid tribute in an Instagram post, saying: “We mourn a woman, who, with or without the crown, was the epitome of nobility.”
Daniel Craig, who famously appeared opposite The Queen in the James Bond sketch for the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony, also described her as: “incomparable.”
In a statement issued on Thursday (September 8), Daniel said: “I, like so many, was deeply saddened by the news today and my thoughts are with the Royal Family, those she loved and all those who loved her.
“She leaves an incomparable legacy and will be profoundly missed.”
