EastEnders viewers have shared their disappointment in the development of Janine Butcher since her return to the BBC soap.
Fans have slammed Janine, played by Charlie Brooks, and her “petty” transformation and have demanded she be removed from the show permanently.
One fan took to Twitter to brand Janine as a “boringly predictable one trick pony”.

They wrote: “Can they just kill Janine off now and this time make it permanent. She’s a boringly predictable one trick pony. This time GONE should mean GONE and not be a safety net for the actor who plays her when her PROPER jobs dry up.”
Another chimed in to slam how “childish” and “petty” Janine had become, and hit out at EastEnders’ producers for ruining her character.
“When Janine’s return was announced I was excited to have a proper villain back in the show, but I feel like this stint isn’t Janine being evil but instead being childish and petty which has totally ruined her character”, the fan claimed.
A third added: “Completely agree. She’s been made into this child, petty, manipulative and jealous person all over a man? It’s pathetic.”
Janine, who’s villainous ways have graced our screens since 1999, became a household name in 2010 when she pushed her ex-husband Barry Evans off a cliff, simply because she couldn’t stand being near him and wanted his wealth by becoming his widow.
Charlie, who plays Janine, revealed that although she’s acted in other shows, including Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here, fans are most likely to recognise her from her EastEnders role.
‘You killed Barry!’ That’s the one I get the most,” she revealed in an interview. “It used to be, ‘Here’s a tenner’ during the prostitution days. She’s been through a lot, this girl.”
