EastEnders Howie Danes star's TV past exposed including Pirates of the Caribbean role

Delroy Atkinson is probably best known to TV audiences for starring as Howie Danes in EastEnders.

The actor made his first appearance in Albert Square late in 2021.

Since then Delroy has built up quite the fanbase and he currently has over 2,000 followers on Twitter.

But what many of the star’s fans might not know is that he has had some fairly showy roles in the past too.

Delroy has been in other TV shows such as Holby City and Luther, and he’s even had a taste of Hollywood success in a Pirates Of The Caribbean film.

Back in 2017, Delroy shared the screen with Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movie Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The film was the fifth in the series about the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Delroy played Pike, a pirate and one of the crew members of the Dying Gull.

The character carried a cutlass and a flintlock and wasn’t afraid of getting stuck in.

Two years later the actor landed a role in Luther, the smash hit crime thriller starring TV favourite Idris Elba as DCI John Luther.

He was in two episodes of the fifth series of the show, playing a character named Derek Hayes.

Last year was a good one for the actor.

As well as landing his Walford role, he had a part in It’s A Sin, the critically acclaimed series about a group of gay men and their friends during the HIV crisis in the 80s.

Delroy played the role of Mr Ibisu in a couple of episodes of the mini-series.

The same year, the actor landed a guest part in Holby City that ran for several episodes.

He played Delroy Jones, a terminally ill patient being treated at the hospital.

The character made a bit of a connection with staff nurse Kylie (Amy Murphy) before passing away.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
