EastEnders Janine's 'mystery man' Steve revealed in huge twist on wedding day to Mick

EastEnders viewers finally know the real identity of Janine Butcher’s (Charlie Brooks) mystery man.

Fans of the BBC One soap watched Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and Janine finally tie the knot during Thursday’s (December 23) episode.

However, things didn’t go as smoothly as they hoped as Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) interrupted the ceremony to reveal all about Janine’s “secret lover”.

It wasn’t what Shirley expected though as Janine revealed that Steve has simply sold her a pub for her and Mick to start afresh in as a married couple.

Fans rushed to their keyboards as Mick and Janine tied the knot.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Has anyone ever had a happy wedding on this show?”

Another added: “Shirley isn’t going to go down without a fight.”

A third person posted: “Obsessed with how Shirley calls Janine “it”.

While a fourth social media user said: “Fair to say Shirley’s not feeling the ceremony.”

Standing up in the middle of the ceremony, Shirley said: “She’s got another bloke. I’ve seen it, the private conversations, the texts.

“She snuck out last night to meet him and gave he gave her these” holding up a pair of keys.

She continued: “What is it? A love nest Mick bought you to take your toyboy there.

“Because that’s what she does Mick. She marries men, takes their money and dumps them and I’m not going to let her do it to you.”

Standing at the alter, Janine said to Mick: “Your mum is right. There is another man.

“Look at it, it’s not even shamed,” Shirley jumped in.

Janine continued: “I saw him last night. to pick up the keys to our new pub which was meant to be a surprise Christmas present but thank you Shirley.”

Mick later went on to reveal that they’d planned to tell the family about their new boozer in Islington after the festive period.

He also told his mother to leave the service and they continue on to become husband and wife.

Shirley later returned to the Vic and told Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that Mick and Janine are leaving for a new life at their new pub.

Elsewhere in the episode pop sensation Rag’n’Bone Man performed for the residents of Albert Square as Mick and Janine celebrated becoming Mr and Mrs Carter.
