The soap star recently hinted at some more familiar faces returning to Albert Square.

Appearing on This Morning last month she spoke about upcoming EastEnders storylines, and while she didn’t reveal any specific plot details, she teased that we can expect some old faces to return…

“It’s really good. Some of the old characters are coming back as well,” she revealed.

She said: “There’s quite a big storyline and they’re flying.”

Loyal fans of the long-standing soap recently shared an unearthed throwback snap of the LGBT+ movie Beautiful Thing after she made her acting debut in the romantic comedy alongside soap star Linda Henry in 1996.

One user penned: “Shirley what a diva [applause emoji]” as another agreed: “Shirley looks pretty menace now. Lol.”
