EastEnders’ Jean Slater star Gillian Wright has been forced to cancel a pantomime show she was due to star in amid a gruesome injury.
Gillian, who has portrayed Stacey Slater’s mum Jean in the BBC One soap opera, was supposed to play the role of the Wicked Queen in a pantomime production of Snow White on December 10 in Chatham.
But after breaking her wrist, the Jean actress has had to pull out of tonight’s performance (Saturday, December 10).

There are no updates as to whether or not Gillian will star in performances this month, but in a statement released it reveals that she will be “absent for a short period”.
The panto ends on December 31, so it is unclear when or if Gillian will return.
In a statement posted on the Medway Tickets Live website, the Snow White production team penned: “We regretfully report that Gillian Wright, star of Snow White at the Central Theatre, Chatham this Christmas, will be unable to take part in today’s performance of Snow White following a broken wrist.
“She has been able to work up to this point but following minor surgery she now needs a little recovery time and will therefore be absent for a short period.”
They added: “In the meantime, the show must go on, so Samantha Hughes, whose credits include Blood Brothers, Chorus Line and Joseph, will temporarily be taking up the mantle of the Wicked Queen will undoubtedly be causing all manner of terrible trouble for our panto heroes!”
This comes after the soap starlet shared a career update during the week.
Holding an award made from glass, the Jean actress beamed as she announced the exciting news.

“What a lovely thing to have happened,” the Jean actress exclaimed in the caption.
She added: “Thank you TVTimes viewers for your votes for the show and for me! What a present! Lifted our spirits!”
On the glass award she held, it had “Favourite Soap Star” engraved on the front, along with Gillian’s name and the name of the soap.
EastEnders airs weekdays (except Fridays) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
