Emmerdale fans have predicted that Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) will be a comforting shoulder to cry on for Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) when he eventually discovers his wife Layla’s (Roxy Shahidi) drug habit.
During Monday’s (June 6) instalment of the popular ITV soap, viewers were warned about upcoming medical distress in the long-standing show as they watched the entrepreneur continue to spiral out of control.
In the episode, the loving wife buckled under the pressure of a high-profile interview with a local journalist and fell back on the support of her drug habit to help her get through the stress-inducing discussion.
But when the topic turned to her home life with the village doctor, the brunette beauty was forced to retreat to the bathroom where she nearly collapsed from the effects of the illegal substances she had been taking.
Luckily the reporter was completely understanding and managed to reschedule the interview as she staggered out into the street, where Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) spotted struggling to hold herself upright.
As she helped her friend back to her home where she handed her a much-needed glass of water, her close pal gave her the brutally honest intervention she needed to wash the rest of the drugs down the drain before her husband found out.
But viewers suspect that the medical professional will eventually find out about her illicit habit which many believe will end their marriage.
Not only that but some believe that the hunky doctor will turn to his close friend Bernice to help him pick up the pieces again with a bubbling romance rising to the surface.
After watching the worrying episode, fans swarmed to Twitter to share their thoughts on the future of Leyla and Liam’s relationship online.
One user predicted: “Calling Bernice and Liam getting together again soon. Let’s see… @ emmerdale #Emmerdale.”
Another agreed: “When Liam knows the truth…he’ll be running to seek a shoulder to cry on…Bernice #Emmerdale.”
A third pointed out: “Liam and Bernice are so good together #emmerdale,” as another argued: “Liam should have chosen Bernice, at least she’s not a coke head #Emmerdale.”
Emmerdale continues on weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV.
