Emmerdale fans have shared their confusion about the show’s major Christmas plothole.
Friday’s episode (December 23) of the ITV soap saw Moira allow her children to open Christmas presents, with fans on Twitter claiming it was “too early” for the gifts to be unwrapped.
One fan asked: “Bit early to be opening Christmas presents, isn’t it?!”

Another viewer said: “Moira you’re 2 days too early to open presents,” while a third said. “Why the f*** is Moira letting her kids open their presents on the 23rd?
“Who delivered them? The tardy Easter Bunny?”
A fourth viewer quipped: “Bit early opening presents?”
“Does Moira not understand the concept of kids waiting until Christmas Day before opening their gifts?” Another viewer concluded.
Following his guilt over the shooting of Al Chapman, for which his father Cain is serving time in prison, Kyle insisted he was too naughty to receive the gifts.
Moira assured her son this wasn’t the case, however.
While viewers were distracted by the early unwrapping of the gifts, other fans on Twitter were left convinced the presents pointed to the bombshell exposure of Cain’s secret brother Caleb Milligan.
One fan argued: “So the secret brother has sent those presents then….”
Another agreed: “I reckon Caleb delivered the presents if it wasn’t Cain.”
Caleb is Cain’s half-brother who has an axe to grind with Cain after being lied to about their mother Faith Dingle for 30 years.
He is portrayed by Emmerdale newcomer, Will Ash, who has previously hinted the character could take a “dark” revenge on his treacherous sibling.
The storyline is set to reach a dramatic crescendo this festive season, so could the presents be tied to Caleb’s secret plans?
Only time will tell.
Emmerdale airs on ITV.
