Jamie Tate has been missing for quite some time, with many Emmerdale residents presuming he could be dead but some fans seem to think his character could be recast.
Now that Gabby Thomas has an inkling that he may be alive, she’s now on the hunt to find out the truth regarding her baby’s father.
Although Gabby may be on the verge of finding out what’s going on, some Emmerdale fans think that actor Alex Lincoln who plays Jamie might be recast.
Heading to social media site Reddit, fans shared their thoughts on Jamie’s highly anticipated return.
One person asked: “Full time or not? I think he’ll show his face once but that may be it, I don’t think he’s coming back permanently, what do you think?”
Joining the conversation, a fan replied: “From Alexander Lincoln’s IMDB he seems to be busy with future projects on the horizon, however, could they not recast?”
Sharing their thoughts, another Emmerdale viewer responded: “If it’s going to happen it’s not going to be anytime soon.
“As cheshirechris mentioned, ever since his final episode Alexander Lincoln’s been busy either working on projects in the UK or traveling/roadtripping in the US.
“The show films a little over a month in advance and there’s no way he could have been on set since he spent that time alternating between filming a role in an action movie and doing the LGBT film festival circuit.”
The social media user also mentioned that actor Alex previously slammed Emmerdale regarding the storylines.
They added: “Plus he had no problem throwing shade at Jamie’s dumb decisions on his Instagram when they turned Jamie into a villain.
“So as much as the cast loved him I can’t imagine the writers/producers wanting someone back who publicly made fun of the show’s bad writing for his character while he was on.”
As the tension begins to mount regarding Jamie’s whereabouts, fans will have to wait to find out what’s in store for his character and whether he will be played by a completely different star.
