Great British Bake Off viewers were left feeling a little nauseous when one contestant made a quirky dessert choice.
Fans of the hit Channel 4 show were stunned when budding chef Syabira decided to put an interesting twist on her creation when the contestants were tasked with making macarons that don’t look like macarons.
Running with the theme she decided to not only mix up the look of the popular dessert dish, but also the flavour by opting to add a savoury filling to her recipe.

However, her chicken satay-flavoured tofu filling didn’t have mouths watering as viewers took to Twitter to slam the idea.
One wrote: “They’ve all been on the sherry this week. ‘Why not put a chicken satay in a macaron?’ I feel sick.”
Another added: “Why not put chicken satay in a macaron? Things you only hear on #GBBO.”
A third grimaced: “Satay tofu: add to the list of things I never want to see coming out of a piping bag ever again.”
A fourth social media user said: “This is turning my stomach. Chicken satay macarons? Vile. Syabira did not understand the assignment.”
A fifth continued: “Syabira making chicken satay macrons is unhinged. I want to love it.”
But surprisingly Paul Hollywood wasn’t so put off by the idea – and actually praised the dish as he performed a taste test on it – much to the relief of some viewers who were rooting for Syabira.
One wrote: “So satay macarons are actually quite nice. Which is a bit of a surprise.”
A second agreed: “I have been holding my breath over these satay macarons and I’m so glad they worked.”
A third praised her choice writing: “Syabira is kind of a queen actually, she really said ‘haha let’s make chicken satay’ and actually did it, what a mad lass.”
