Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway urged two guests to stop “attacking” each other as they argued over transport workers striking.
The heated row prompted viewers to complain about the segment due to the “loud” opinions of radio host Cristo Foufas as he went head to head with journalist Ash Sarkar in a debate over workers’ rights to strike.
Kate, 55, was forced to intervene as the pair sparred over their differing opinions on the mass walk-out of rail staff earlier this week – with more strike action planned for June 21, 23, and 25.
As Ash lashed out at Cristo for his scathing opinions on implementing a legal ban on strike action to stop staff being able to stage a walkout, the GMB host listened intently alongside co-host Ben Shephard.
However, things took a personal turn with the guests making jibes at one another over their own workplaces.
Ash said: “I would not trust somebody who works for a Rupert Murdoch owned station, somebody who is ideologically opposed to trade unions, to go this is what is good trade union strategy. You are ideologically posed to the idea of elected bargaining and workers standing up for themselves.”
Cristos responded: “A ridiculous point because you work of course for an organisation, your media company, which of course is going to take the stance…”
Before he could finish Kate was quick to intervene as she demanded: “Don’t attack each other, people will be confused.”
Meanwhile, angry viewers took to Twitter to complain as the Talk Radio host became visibly more and more agitated over the subject matter.
One wrote: “This man is far too angry and shouty for 7.35 am.”
Another added: “Who the f*** is this Christos Foufas geezer on GMB? I switch on and he is shouting aggressively, so clearly already lost the argument.”
A third posted: “Some loud and forceful big bully called Cristo Foufas having tantrums on GMB we cannot live. The person next to you isn’t the enemy, it’s the fat cats that milks the profits. Solidarity to unions and workers who are undervalued.”
A fourth social media user tweeted: “Who is this annoying clown saying the government should ban the right to strike?”
A fifth scathed: “This kind of argument is shocking, people actually believing we shouldn’t be able to protest or strike. The country will soon be a Tory dictatorship.”
