Gogglebox's Dave and Shirley announce exciting update to fans ahead of new series

Dave and Shirley from Channel 4’s Gogglebox have shared an exciting announcement for fans of the series.

Viewers were originally upset when Jenny and Lee confirmed that the series had come to an end in December while cast and crew took a break over Christmas and January.

Factory cleaner Dave and retail worker Shirley shared a sweet snap together and unveiled some exciting news to their fans.

Shirley wore a white patterned blouse with hoop earrings and a short blonde hairstyle that showed off her warm smile.

Dave looked smart in a houndstooth knit polo top and black glasses as they both grinned for the camera.

They posted the picture on their joint Instagram account and captioned it: “Chilling in Brown’s, away from the rain.”

They looked as cosy as can be as they cuddled up and sheltered from the bad weather, but their followers took the opportunity to ask them the all important question.

One asked the pair to confirm when the new series is due to begin, to which they replied: “February the 18th, I think,” signing off with two kisses.

Fans were excited at the news and to see their favourite couple on their screens once again.

Happy fans began commenting after they saw the news: “Woo hoo, can’t wait. Missed seeing you two!”

Another said: “Best news!” while another wrote: “Miss you both and can’t wait for the new series. Best TV ever.”

The new series is featured in the TV guides and it is confirmed that it will air on February 18 at 9pm.

Mica Ven also shared the news in an Instagram post. She announced the news while on holiday: “Gogglebox is back from our sofas to your living rooms on February 18th, gang.”

She tagged Channel 4 in the post and reassured them that they “will be there”.

Another Gogglebox pair have recently had to dispel rumours that they are planning on leaving the show after DJ Jo Whiley mistakenly made the announcement on air.

The broadcaster made the claim but Jenny and Lee hit back by saying she was “totally wrong”.

Jo quickly apologised, saying that she was “so sorry” but that she was sure she had read the news somewhere, but it could have been “a dream”.
