Dancing On Ice hopeful Bez has revealed he is wearing a helmet as he trains after smashing his head on the ice.
The Happy Mondays star is gearing up for the upcoming series of the ice-skating competition and said he has already taken some tumbles that have left him nursing a few aches and pains.
The 57-year-old is now wearing a helmet as he works on his moves.
“I’ve had a few [injuries] – nothing major but quite bruised and battered though,” he said.
“I’ve been doing some spectacular falls mostly involving my head crashing into the ice – I wear a helmet.
“Nothing too serious and I’ve actually got a little bit better this week – I only fell over once yesterday so I’m improving.”
When asked if his accidents were a reflection of his skating ability, he replied: “Definitely.”
Fellow contestant Brendan Cole said everyone is coming a cropper during rehearsals – and that he ended up getting a concussion.
“I concussed myself on the first day which was very embarrassing but thankfully that was about eight weeks ago so we’re fully recovered and cracking on,” he said.
The former Strictly star went on: “The deal is with this Dancing On Ice is we are all falling, we are all taking tumbles.
“When you’re pushing yourself like this and getting ready for the live shows you’re going to have accidents and they happen constantly.
“But what you don’t want to do is land on the same place twice, you don’t want to land on a bruise that’s already been bruised three days before that – that really hurts.
“But we’re all trying to keep as safe as we can because we always want to make the shows.”
The new series of the ITV show kicks off on Sunday, January 16, with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returning as hosts.
Dancing on Ice returns to ITV on Sunday at 6.30pm
