Holly Willoughby heartbroken as she praises Queen who 'never let us down'

Holly Willoughby has joined a slew of stars across the nation in paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II as news of her death rocks the globe.

The This Morning star took to Instagram to post an emotional message following her passing, telling fans the queen was “the best of us.”

“Thank you for your lifetime of service and humble commitment to duty… you really were the best of us, you never let us down…”

She followed the caption with a broken heart emoji.

Holly’s fans joined her in commemorating Queen Elizabeth.

One wrote: “What an amazing queen! May she rip.”

“well said,” added another.

While a third added: “RIP HRH amazing lady sad day indeed lovely words Holly.”

Following a sombre statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed the longest-serving monarch in British history had passed away – making her son, Charles, the new King.

Reacting to the heartbreaking news, superstar singer Elton John also paid tribute writing: “Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s passing.

“She was an inspiring presence to be around and lead the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency and genuine caring warmth.

“Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day and I will miss her dearly.”

Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham wrote: “Today is a very sad day not just for our country but for the entire world.

“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Monarch, Her Majesty The Queen.

“She will be remembered for her steadfast loyalty and service and my thoughts are with the royal family at this incredibly sad time.”

Meanwhile TalkTV host Piers Morgan called her the “greatest monarch in history”.

“While this is one of the saddest and most momentous turning points in the history of the United Kingdom, there’s nobody in this country or the world that hasn’t lived the majority of their lives under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

“I struggle to even imagine a Britain without the Queen – but the moment we have all been dreading has already come.”

Piers added: “Her Majesty the Queen died this afternoon in Balmoral, a little piece of us all died with her.”

TalkTV star Sharon Osbourne appeared on Piers Morgan: Uncensored this evening telling viewers she had “a heavy heart, a really really heavy heart”.

She continued: “You and I and millions of people have grown up with her, and she’s always been this tower of strength and dignity for our country and it is heartbreaking.

“I’m heartbroken for our country and I’m heartbroken for the family.”
