I'm a Celeb's 'larger' jungle camp makes big change as show returns to Australia

A big change to the I’m a Celeb camp has been revealed as the show returns to Australia.

The jungle digs, which will soon be occupied by this year’s line up of celebrities, have been given a makeover ahead of the return of the ITV series on Sunday (November 6).

It’s been three years since I’m a Celeb was last filmed at the Aussie jungle site near Murwillumbah in New South Wales.

The new camp will introduce bunk beds for the fist time in the show’s history, with show bosses hoping campmates will get “intimate”.

A luxury camper van will also feature in this year’s camp.

The motorhome will feature “thick mattresses” and provide a “cool” escape from the strong Aussie heat, with producers predicting celebs will squabble over the in-demand spot.

I’m a Celeb executive producer Olly Nash said: “The camp fire is still very much the same but we have bunk beds which is a first for I’m A Celebrity and then we have a luxury RV that was driven through the jungle about 35 years ago, broke down and was never moved.

“That will make a very comfy home for two people inside there.

“They won’t be in there at the start but on day three, two people will win the right to sleep in there.

“I’m sure that will become the number one spot to sleep in and fight to stay in throughout the series.

“It has thick mattresses and they are comfy beds, it has its own little set of lighting and will be much cooler in there.

“The bunk beds are trying to make something slightly more intimate.”

This year’s jungle camp will be the largest to date and feature classic elements from series past including the waterfall shower and the camp fire.

With Ant and Dec’s studio also upgraded with a new roof and brand new LED lighting, I’m a Celeb will kick off with a bang and “more challenges than ever” this weekend.

Olly added: “It’s much bigger than we’ve ever done before. And we’re filming more(challenges) than we’ve ever filmed before.

“There’ll be more elements lasting over more shows than has happened before too, so it’s not all just going to be limited to show one.

“Not all celebrities will be here in camp at the end of Sunday’s show.”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns at 9pm on Sunday night (November 6) on ITV.
