Hollyoaks actress Steph Davis has turned 29 and to celebrate her big day we are taking a deep dive into her show-stopping life.
The soap star began her career with small roles in British television series, and in 2010, she competed in the BBC talent show Over the Rainbow.
After this, she was then cast in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, where she portrayed the role of Sinead O’Connor on and off from September 2010 to September 2019.
In 2016, she then competed in the seventeenth series of Celebrity Big Brother and was the runner-up.
However, plenty of things went on behind the scenes, which we are going to take a closer look at now…
CBB controversy
Inside the CBB house, Stephanie took a fancy to fellow contestant Jeremy McConnell – which caused a big stir as she was still dating Sam Reece at the time.
CBB co-star Gemma Collins then expressed her views on Stephanie’s actions, after she and Jeremy were caught kissing by Geordie Shore’s Scotty T.
TOWIE legend Gemma told the pair: “It’s so wrong what you’re doing, you’ve got a boyfriend.”
This then led to the actress threatening to punch Gemma in the face, during a diary room chat.
Steph told Big Brother: “If you let me back in that house I’m gonna end up doing something I regret.”
“Either if that’s punching Gemma Collins in the face which she deserves. She’s a f***ing diva, big lion headed c*** who’s an absolute knob and people that do like her need to give their head a wobble because she’s disgusting.”
Co-star chaos
Steph and Jeremy continued to hit headlines upon leaving the house with the star announcing she was pregnant with Jeremy’s child, shortly after they parted ways.
However, the 32-year-old said the baby wasn’t his and went on This Morning to take an on-air paternity, which confirmed he was the dad.
The couple got back together following their son Caben’s birth, however, soon parted ways again. As in August 2017, Jeremy was found guilty of assaulting Stephanie.
Rehab stint
Alongside all of the aggro previously mentioned with ex-beau Jezz, the mum-of-one also ended up checking into rehab at one point.
Stephanie confessed to becoming addicted to alcohol, attempting suicide and developing PTSD over her relationship trauma with Jeremy.
Thought things turned a corner in May 2018, after she resumed her role in Hollyoaks almost three years on after she was sacked from the show for arriving “unfit for work” back in 2015.
Suicide struggles
A year later, Stephanie was unfortunately back in a dark place, with her telling fans that she was just an hour from death, having tried to end her own life.
In 2019, she shared an emotional Instagram post, explaining why she was taking time away from the soap.
Stephanie shared that she relapsed and wanted to kill herself after struggling with her mental health issues, and was dealing with it without help or medication.
Posting a video of herself online, Stephanie warned fans about the distressing content.
Stephanie said: “I’ve cried before posting this. I haven’t been ready to talk about this and I am still fragile so please respect how hard this is for me.
“I haven’t been back to work because the real truth is I relapsed and tried to kill myself.
“This was a suicide video I was leaving behind saying I’m sorry and cannot continue.
“I can still feel the pain in my chest when I watch this, it’s really hard to watch.”
Stalker hell
In January 2022, the star revealed she was left with “panic attacks” and “insomnia” after being pursued by a “terrifying” stalker.
Talking to Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes on This Morning, she said: “I struggle with my mental health anyway but when that happened, my anxiety was through the roof.
“I couldn’t relax. I was constantly having panic attacks.
“I couldn’t sleep. Every time I heard a noise, I was literally up panicking. I kept checking on [my son] Caben. It was horrendous.”
In January 2022, Stephanie’s stalker Alex Boston was sentenced to 28 weeks in jail for stalking her from April 2020 – July 2021.
The 43-year-old man was also given an indefinite restraining order which prevents him from contacting her or approaching her home.
Talking about the result, she continued: “I feel relieved.
“I’ve slept for the first time in a long time. Still, I think it’s going to take a while… that’s going to take a while, I think.
“I think I’ll be always looking over my shoulder for a while but yeah, I’m relieved.
“I’m glad that justice has been done and I can move on from it now.”
