Kate Garraway was forced to apologise to Good Morning Britain viewers after Susanna Reid had rumbled her eating on Thursday’s programme.
The 54 year old misread the room, thinking she had some extra time to chow down on her breakfast but her co-star had other ideas when she caught Kate off guard with a gardening question.
Hosts Ben Shephard, 47, and Susanna, 51, were gearing up to interview gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh when they seemingly had a few extra minutes to kill before the discussion got underway.
Susanna said: “Well January is a vital time in the gardening calendar, isn’t it Ben?”
She added: “Are you a big gardener? You’ve got a big garden.”

“You know Mrs S is the gardener in our house, I do the lugging the lumbering and the digging,” responded Ben.
Susanna asked her co-star Kate who was off camera at that time:”Kate you are a big gardener.”
Unable to speak because she’d just gobbled up some food, Kate began to chew frantically.

Gaining composure again, she replied back: “I’m so sorry, I thought we were going to the weather.”
“And you gave me a lovely Christmas tree do you remember?” replied Kate.
“It’s a big time of year for gardening, everyone else thinks it’s all dead but you should get to work then,” added Derek Draper’s wife.

Susanna joked: “Shall we let you swallow that bite before we talk to you again.
Looking red raced, Kate swallowed her food after finishing her sentence.
Meanwhile, at New Year it was announced that Kate had made the New Years Honour’s list.
Kate is to be awarded an MBE for her raw documentary – Finding Derek which followed her husband’s heartbreaking battle with Covid-19.
