Katie Waissel calls for halt to BGT after David Walliams called contestant a 'c***'

Katie Waissel has spoken out about David Walliams insulting and calling a contestant a “c***” off camera while judging Britain’s Got Talent.

The disgraced star was also heard making X-rated slurs against another contestant in “private” recordings obtained by the media.

Now Katie, who came seventh in the singing show in 2010, has demanded that there be an “emergency stop” to filming all reality TV shows until better conditions are put in place.

The 36-year-old, who was relentlessly trolled on the X Factor, also claims she was the victim of sexual assault and “mistreatment” while working in the showbiz industry.

Katie wants Walliams, 51, to be suspended too so that BGT’s production company can “investigate this serious breach in conduct immediately”.

The mum-of-one passionately told Mail Online: “I am absolutely determined to put a full and final stop to the ongoing abuse and neglect of care to vulnerable and unknowing participants or contestants.

“I cannot and will not rest until legislation is updated to reflect the rightful safeguarding and protection for victims sadly masked by “showbiz”’

During filming in early 2020, Walliams was recorded referring to an elderly contestant as a “c***” a number of times after they made a jokey dig at him.

When another female contestant walked off stage he said: “She thinks you want to f**k her, but you don’t.”

He added later: “No I don’t! I had a bit of a b***r, but now it’s going, it’s now shrivelled up inside my body.”

The Little Britain comic has since apologised for his “disrespectful comments” during breaks for filming but said the remarks were not intended for broadcast.

He added in a statement to the Guardian: “These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Meanwhile, ITV has said it “does not condone” the language used and that the “duty of care towards all participants on any of our programmes is always of paramount importance and we have protocols and guidelines in place for all our production partners”.

Fellow judge Piers Morgan has called the scandal the “tip of the iceberg” and said that Walliams is “one of the biggest frauds in TV”.
