Brunette beauty Gemma Owen, the daughter of football legend Michael Owen, has been confirmed as an official contestant for this year’s Love Island.
The hit ITV2 dating show is back with a bang for its eighth season, which means a fresh batch of singletons are set to enter the villa on a hunt for love.
The stunner has now been revealed as one of the official castmates by show bosses, who finally spilled the lineup on Monday (May 30).
Asked if she was competitive, she said sport had always been a big thing for her and her family and paid a sweet nod to dad Michael, saying: “My dad was a professional football player.
The international dressage rider and business owner added: “I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11-years-old.
“I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive. [When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want.
“But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.
“I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.”
Asked why she has entered the Love Island villa, Gemma revealed: “I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer.
“I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, ‘Why not?”
And what can we expect to see from Gemma in the villa?
The star has revealed that she is ‘very honest’ and a ‘good person to talk to’, saying: “I would say I’m fun, flirty and fiery.
“I think I’m good at giving advice, I’m a good person to talk to, I’m very honest.
“If I want the same guy, I’d do it but in a nice respectful way.”
Gemma Owen joins Love Island stars already announced for the 2022 series including Tasha Ghouri, Indiyah Polack, Liam Llewellyn, Dami Hope and Paige Thorne.
Laura Whitmore will also return to hosting duties after presenting the show for the last two series.
